Winter on the farm

by Sam Fairs, December 2, 2015

The days have got shorter and the weather has certainly taken a turn for the worse with heavy rain, strong winds and at least one big frost.

Until this week it’s been unseasonably warm and that means that the slugs have been thriving, feasting on the young rapeseed crop. The pigeons are tucking in too and doing their best to destroy the crop! This means we’re working as hard as we can to protect the next year’s harvest.

We have loaded wheat and barley to be sent on an export boat from Great Yarmouth port

The boys are hedge cutting and doing the big winter tidy up.

Hopefully by Christmas in a few weeks we’ll be able to relax and spend some time with our families.
